A NASA space telescope captured a planet-sized object flying close to the sun ? extending a refueling tube into the star?s surface.
The black, Death Star-like, orb is briefly engulfed in light from the sun, then flies off into space.
A video edited from the Solar Dynamics Observatory?s photos inspired a wave of speculation on YouTube.
The imagery was captured by NASA?s?Solar Dynamics Observatory and edited together by a YouTube user, Sunsflare, who challenged experts to explain the strange ?visitor.?
The public response from NASA downplays the ?death star refueling?, so as not to cause any kind of panic on earth. ?They are saying publicly that it?s a solar ?prominence? or ?filament? ? a feature extending out from the sun which forms over the course of a day, and can extend hundreds of thousands of miles into space.
But, when pressed to explain a solar ?prominence? ? they can?t.
G. Thomas Elder a solar astrophysicist at NASA?s Goddard Space Flight Centre said off-the-record, ?Filaments appear to be dark because they?re cooler in relation to what?s in the background. ?I?ve see many of them ? and this is not one of them. ?This is the Death Star.?
BUT NASA told WWN, ?A solar prominence (also known as a filament when viewed against the solar disc) is a large, bright feature extending outward from the Sun?s surface.
?Prominences are anchored to the Sun?s surface and extend outwards into the Sun?s hot outer atmosphere, called the corona.?
Scientists can not explain it. ?Death Star expert, Chad Rigaux, of the United Nations. said, ?any explanations about the Death Star are just fabrications to cover-up the truth.?
NASA?s Solar Dynamics Observatory is in contact with the United Nations and they will prepare a ?plan of attack? if the Death Star heads for Earth.
